VO2 Max testing

VO₂ Max Test with RER (Respiratory Exchange Ratio)

A VO₂ Max test measures your body's maximum oxygen consumption during exercise, providing valuable insights into your cardiovascular fitness and endurance capacity. Along with VO₂ Max, this test includes Respiratory Exchange Ratio (RER), which indicates whether your body is primarily burning carbohydrates or fats for energy. This data is essential for optimizing training, improving performance, and personalizing nutrition strategies.


Why It Matters:

  • Assess cardiovascular fitness and endurance levels
  • Identify optimal training zones for performance and fat-burning
  • Track fitness progress and tailor workout intensity
  • Optimize nutrition and recovery strategies based on fuel utilization


How to Prepare:

  • Avoid vigorous exercise for 12 hours before the test
  • Fast for at least 4 hours prior (water is okay)
  • No caffeine, stimulants, or alcohol for at least 4 hours before testing
  • Wear comfortable workout attire and bring water
  • Be prepared to exercise at increasing intensity until exhaustion


During the test, you'll wear a mask to measure your oxygen intake and carbon dioxide output while exercising on a treadmill or stationary bike. 

The session is scheduled for 60 minutes, and although the test itself typically takes 10-20 minutes, be prepared to be here the entire hour.
